Helping children start the school year ready and confident. Six weeks of one-to-one support, built around each child's own learning gaps.
The Bridge Programme is a structured six-week cycle of personalised tutoring, timed to run before a new school term begins. Rather than teaching one lesson to a room, we build each child's plan around their own identified gaps, whether that is reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, or confidence and independent learning.
We have identified our first group of children, our tutors are preparing, and this first pilot cycle is now under way.
Every child is matched with individualised support and moves through weekly lesson sets. We check progress at three points, so both the tutor and the family can see how far the child has come.
We record where the child is starting from, across each skill and in their own confidence.
We check what is moving and what is not, and adjust the child's plan while there is still time.
We measure the change from where the child began, and share it with the family.
We follow up once school is underway, to see how each child is actually doing in class.
Measurable gains in each child's skills, alongside growing confidence and engagement in their own learning.
A smoother, more successful start to the school year, and less need for remedial support later on.
We built the measurement before we built the lessons. For every child, we track how each skill moves from Not Yet to Emerging to Secure, how the child's own confidence rating shifts between the baseline and Week 6, and what parents, guardians, and tutors observe along the way. Once the new term starts, we follow up to see how the child is doing in school.
This is a pilot, so we do not yet have results to publish. When the first cohort finishes, we will share what we find, including what did not work.
For funders and partners: our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework for this programme is available on request. We are glad to discuss how we measure and report.
After each six-week cohort, our team will review what worked and what did not, and use that evidence to refine the curriculum before the next group of children begins. No version of the programme is ever treated as finished. It is built to keep improving for the next child who needs it.
